Noel Clark EFIAP FAPS PPSA PSQA
1955 - 2019
Sadly, we lost friend and long-time member, Noel Clark on November 10th, 2019.

Noel joined the Redlands Camera Club in 2008 together with his wife Pia. Noel became involved with the activities of the club from the start, he was a giver and a strong leader throughout the years. He wore many hats and helped push forward many changes for improvement. He was dedicated to our club as well as the broader photographic community.

Noel joined the Club Committee in 2009, later taking on the role of competition director in 2013.
In 2014 Noel revived the Redlands National competition after it had been dormant for a number of years and went on to found the very successful Redlands International Exhibition. The International Exhibition was something he was passionate about and rightfully proud of.

Noel mentored many members throughout the years. He enjoyed helping others move forward in their photography journey and loved to see them grow and flourish.

Noel regularly ran workshops for our club as well as other qld clubs. He was a national and international exhibitor gaining high photography distinctions via APS, FIAP and PSA. He was regularly invited to judge at camera clubs and national / international photography exhibitions.

Noel had a deep love and respect for the natural world, environment and conservation.

In photography he enjoyed photographing nature subjects, in particular little critters - spiders and insects.
He loved exploring Australia. Being in the bush filled him with excitement and great happiness.
He found joy in all the little things, and his face simply beamed when he discovered beautiful shells and their inhabitants, flowers, insects and the like.

RIP Noel.
Always remembered, always loved.

Dianne Arthur
1958 - 2014
Dianne was a vibrant and enthusiastic member of the Redlands Camera Club from early 2012. She was a mother of three children, Matthew, Andrew and Nicole and worked at the "I'm local" magazine.

As a young adult Dianne had a Canon DSLR and loved to take amazing portraits of her children as babies as they grew. Di's children asked her later 'how did she create such clear and captivating photos? She explained she had a big old canon camera and used to love photography.

As Dianne got older and bored with the same' day in-day out' life routine, her children encouraged their mum to get back into photography.

Dianne contacted Redlands Camera Club and was on her way to her first Monday night meeting.
She had become a member, attended workshops, entered competitions and constantly went on outings with friends from the club.

Dianne's children still remember their mum always taking her camera on family outings to get that rare beautiful capture of nature, wildlife, buildings and people. Di's children can account that her creativity, perception and focus of life then became a love affair with photography.

Di's family saw their mother's life positively change through her engagement with the people and the values that she experienced with Redlands Camera Club. The passion, creativity and support of the people gave her the confidence to pursue further her love of photography. Gaining that confidence through her activities with this club then makes this award special.

Sadly Dianne passed away on the 16 of December 2014.

The family asked the club to consider instigating a perpetual award which recognises mature age women such as Dianne pursuing their passion in photography. We have readily agreed.
The 'Dianne Arthur Memorial Trophy' was established in 2015 and presented to a female member who has taken up their passion at a later age and is an active member in Redlands Camera Club showing effort and persistence.

Dianne's family thanks everyone at Redlands Camera Club for the part that they played in their mother's life and the family wish you all the best with your future photography.

Later in life Di's passion was rekindled when she joined the Redlands Camera club, she loved photography and had a great passion at a later age in life to improve and grow in it.
Di passed away suddenly, but is dearly remembered by all of the many friends within the club for her photography passion, laughter and zest for life.
The woman receiving the Di Arthur award exemplifies a woman with an active passion for photography, improvement and growth to achieve their best.

Barrie Russell
1939 - 2004

Barrie Russell Memorial Award
Established in 2004

Barrie was an original member of the club, a born photographer and successful exhibitor.
He was also a talented sail maker and well known in yachting circles. During his membership of the club, he helped those who were new to photography as well as more experienced members who sought his help.

He died from a heart attack at an early age and this trophy commemorated his memory and club contributions. The taller sections of the trophy represent the sails and the camera, his photography.
The award was established to recognise the contribution of one member during the year to club activities. It has also been used to recognise the commitment and advancement of skills by members, particularly those who are newer members of the club.
